New year, new you… new ‘do?

Oh, 2019, what a year we had (and by we, we mean our hair).

Some of us experimented with length. Some of us went a bit ragged (we’re talking texture and tousled bobs!). But the majority of us went back, back to the 90s with its array of accessories and mid-length hair.

But 2020 is no longer just a hair’s breadth away, it’s here! And this year’s new year, new you mantra is also accompanied by new ‘do and new decade! That’s a lot of newness. And if there’s one thing we know from 2019, it’s that we have embraced a lot of new hairstyles and trends. So, what can 2020 do to top our 2019 hair?

The new ‘do

OK, so you didn’t find the courage to “lob” off your hair last year, but maybe the thought of a new decade is giving you the confidence to embrace a completely new style. After all, a new year equals fresh looks and an abundance of inspiration. What will it be? Pixie? Bob? Lob? Either way, start with a good treatment.

“So, the collarbone skimming bob has been massive this year and is set to stay through Spring 2020.

Bobs used to be the style of girls with straight hair leaving girls with coarse texture looking in with envy. Not anymore!

With the right treatments girls with any hair texture can go for the big chop too.

The KeraStraight Ultimate Treatment smooths coarse textured hair making it easy to manage and less frizzy. The results last up to 4 months. Long enough to last until the next trends starts to emerge.”

Give it some (more) texture

We’ll give up chocolate for the new year (probably not for long) but something we’re not giving up for 2020 is texture. You could say it’s the one thing we won’t be shedding.

What’s not to love? Low-maintenance styling? Achieved with a bit of texture. Still not wanting to go short? Give hair some texture. Even those statement-making cuts can be turned up a notch with a bit of texture.

“I’m seeing texture playing a huge part in January from pixie crops to bobs.

To really achieve texture in all the right places I love mixing the Texture Crème with the Moisture Mist, it gives your cuts a softer movement and a really healthy looking finish.”

The restyle, with the right products

Embracing natural hair can be just as liberating as going for the big chop.

“I’m loving restyling curly hair at the moment using the KeraStraight Moisture Enhance Shampoo and Conditioner and after cutting using the texture creme to help to individual style the curl. Then finishing off with moisture mist to get rid of any remaining frizz.”

So, maybe to this 2020 mantra of newness we should also add ‘Just. Do. You’. Whether that’s a new length, some added texture or a restyle; it’s about embracing and adopting what’s right for you.

Personalisation is key, and easy when there’s so much to draw inspiration from; 2019 paved the way for what looks to be a great start to a new decade, wouldn’t you agree?
